Programme starten nicht mehr (gimp,firefox,thunderbird,filezilla...)

Hatte mit Opensuse noch nie großartige
Probleme, aber dieses mal hat es mich erwischt.
Hier läuft
Opensuse 12.1 64bit.

Vor kurzem hat sich das Startmenü mal
wieder an den oberen Rand verschoben, obwohl die Miniprogramme
gesperrt sind. Miniprogramme entsperrt und Startmenü wieder runter
gezogen, soweit so gut.

Jetzt laufen aber etliche Programme
nicht mehr (zumindest als normaler User).

Ausgabe der Konsole
als normaler User:
Firefox, Thunderbird, Kmix: es wird nichts
angezeigt, Programm startet aber nicht. -safe-mode geht auch nicht.
Profilordner umbenennen hat auch nicht geholfen.

Wenn ich mich als root
einlogge und die Programme wieder über die Konsole starten
funktionieren sie alle.
Es gibt allerdings Warnungen und
Fehlermeldungen, von denen ich nicht weiß ob sie normal sind.

Nun bin ich mit meinem Latein am Ende, ich hab
schon über die Softwareverwaltung Firefox deinstalliert und wieder
installiert. Sämtlich abhängige Programe aktualisiert. Hat alles
nichts geholfen.
Könnt ihr mir da ein bißchen auf die Sprünge
helfen?
(Im übrigen starte ich diese Programme gewöhnlicherweise
nicht als root/ Der Konqueror läuft erstaunlicherweise.

Leg mal in Yast einen neuen Benutzer an und melde dich als dieser neue Benutzer an und beobachte, ob sich dort die Programme starten lassen.

Alternativ mal den versteckten Ordner:

home/username/.kde4
umbenennen in kde4.old und ab- und wieder anmelden.
Testen ob jetzt alles funzt.
Wenn ja, alle wichtigen Configurationsdateien aus dem Ordner .kde4.old in die entsprechenden Ordner des neuen kde4-Ordners kopieren.

Sorgfältig arbeiten um keine wichtigen Einstellungen zu verlieren.

So, jetzt wird es mysteriös.

Ich habe eigentlich gar nichts gemacht, außer die verschiedenen Programme über die Konsole gestartet.
Danach ging wieder alles so sonst.

Das einzige was noch nicht will, ist den Firefox in die Startleiste zu kriegen.
Hab das immer über Kontextmenü, erweitert, einen Starter für Firefox anzeigen wenn es nicht läuft
gemacht.

Wenn ich den Firefox dann schließe, kommt zwar etwas auf das man klicken kann, aber ohne Symbol.
Außerdem wird der Firefox dann über eine Konsole geöffnet.

Warum löschst deine Kontrollleiste nicht mal und erstellst mit Rechtsklick auf den Desktop ne neue Standard-Kontrollleiste?

Ausserdem: Das Programm welches du der Kontrollleiste hinzufügen wills im KMenü (KickOff) ins Suchfeld eintragen und das Ergebnis rechtsklicken und zur Kontrollleiste hinzufügen.

Übrigens gibt es Alternativen um sich Programmstarter in die Kontrollleiste zu pflastern.

Geh mal die Miniprogramme durch.
