Hallo,

ich habe ein paar neue Erkenntnisse und möchte deswegen nochmal kurz zusammenfassen. Vielleicht fällt ja doch noch jemandem eine Lösungsstrategie ein.

Der Laptop (Suse 12.2, Gnome) bleibt beim normalen Hochfahren hängen, d.h. man sieht Plymouth und den rollenden Mauszeiger.

Anmelden als root oder user ist mit "Strg + Alt + F1" an dieser Stelle möglich!

Dann kommen stabil reproduzierbar und in jedem Fall und ausschliesslich die beschriebenen Symptome: Plymouth bleibt hängen, "rollender" Mauszeiger, keine Festplattenaktivität, nichts passiert mehr, keine Reaktion auf F12... Ohne Plymouth ist die letzte Meldung: Started LSB: X Display Manager

Kann man an dieser Stelle durch eine "magische Tastenkombination" noch was probieren?

Hallo, danke für sie schnellen Antworten!

Das obsolete Paket (libmtp9) habe ich identifizieren und entfernen können.

Danach leider noch keine änderung der Symptome.

Anmelden kann ich mich im runlevel 3 als user und als root. In der Eingabezeile für den Nutzernamen steht übrigens:

Dateien kann ich jetzt per USB-Stick übertragen, Danke.

Hallo allerseits,

ich bitte um Hilfe bei dem folgenden Problem:

Seit gestern bleibt mein Laptop (Suse 12.2, Gnome) beim Hochfahren hängen, d.h. man sieht Plymouth und den rollenden Mauszeiger.

Lasse ich mir per einmal einer Pfeiltaste die Meldungen anzeigen, dann ist die letzte Meldung:

Mit der Bootoption nomodeset bekomme ich am Ende einen schwarzen Bildschirm mit rollendem Mauszeiger.

Hochfahren scheint bis inklusive Runlevel 3 zu funktionieren.

Was ich davor gemacht habe:

Ich hatte versucht, das Handy meiner Frau mit dem Laptop zu verbinden, per USB und Bluetooth. Weil das nicht auf Anhieb funktionierte, habe ich per YAST noch ein Paket nachinstalliert, das sich zwar als nicht hilfreich erwies, das zu entfernen ich aber leider auch vergessen habe. Leider weiss ich auch nicht mehr, wie es hiess. Auch nicht, ob es mit Bluetooth oder USB zu tun hatte. Nicht sehr hilfreich, klar.

Plus: Updates werden bei mir automatisch ohne Nachfragen installiert. (Vielleicht auch keine schlaue Idee....)

Also: Was kann ich tun, um die Ursache zu finden?

Dazu wäre ggf. gut zu wissen: Wie kann ich ohne Gnome (!) Dateien/Ausgaben vom betroffenen Computer ggf. per USB-Stick auf einen anderen übertragen, damit ich es nicht abtippen oder vom Bildschirm abfotografieren muss.
