Ich hatte auch das Problem, das nach dem update von hplip mein HP nicht mehr wollte bzw. sich auf einem baugleichen neuen Rechner nicht installieren ließ.
Das Problem war ein Typo (Drucker falsch geschrieben) in
/usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.datSollte ein Faden im besten Fall nicht immer mit der Lösung des Problems abschließen? Um etwas aus der Tiefe zurückzuholen gibt es doch die Suchfunktion. Nichts geht verloren.
Was CPU und Grafik anbetrifft ja. Ich habe Kernel 5.5.9 aus kernel:stable installiert. Ich habe aber einen Lappi von Lenovo. Bei mir hat der WLAN Chip Probleme mit diesem (allen aus kernel:stable) Kernel. Aber dafuer gibt es das Sauerland Repo. 
Was sagt denn die HP Geräteverwaltung? Lässt er sich dort unter Printer Control starten?
