Da er GNOME nutzt, sollte das wahrscheinlich per se über libinput laufen.

Ich hab in der VM wohlweislich Xorg am laufen, also alles unter Xorg und nicht Wayland.

Ist dann aber für den TE nicht aussagekräftig, falls er Wayland nutzt. Hab jetzt nicht geschaut, ob er da was zu gepostet hat.

Ich hab Gnome mit Wayland nicht zum Laufen gekriegt für Leap 15.1. Deswegen nutze ich Xorg.

So,
auch hier kurzes Update. Ich habe das Problem nicht anders beheben können als durch Neuinstallation. Habe dann nach etlichen Versuchen auch relativ genervt aufgegeben. Da ich noch keine Daten auf dem System hatte, war die Neuinstallation nicht dramatisch.
