Ich habe nachgeschaut mein altes Leap 15.1 lief auf der gleichen Hardware
mit einer Auflösung von 1600x900 60Hz.

Dann kannst Du in die /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-monitor.conf eintragen.
Die Nummer vorne ist irrelevant. Hauptsache du trägst die modeline in die /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xx-monitor.conf ein. xx ist dabei dann eben durch die Zahl zu ersetzen, die dein System vergeben hat.

Anmerkung: In meinen Systemen gibt es keine /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/xx-monitor.conf mehr. Deshalb ist nicht sicher, ob das so funktioniert oder ob eine andere Vorgehensweise gewählt werden muß.
Edit: Die Karte ist schon 6 Jahre alt und mit 1 GB RAM ist da nicht mehr viel los.
